Connections:
Since the dawn of the modern age, flowers have been synonymous with every possible emotion humans are capable of. From the flowers that celebrate our births to the flowers that mourn our deaths, every major memory of our collective lives can be associated with the acceptance or donation of flowers. As we travel through life, we consistently add flowers to our bouquets of memories of the lives we have led. However, what happens when our time has dwindled and our bouquets begin to fade and decay. As our memories turn to dust and ash, we reflect on whether or not these memories will perish with us or if we have left some legacy behind other than our own personal bouquet of life’s little memories. The Vikings believed that Valhalla was reserved for warriors who gave their lives for others. Those that lived the greater good beyond their own desires were rewarded with eternal paradise. “The Black Bouquet of Valhalla” chronicles the life of one individual facing these very thoughts and questions. As life ends, will he have served anything greater than himself? Or, is his life just a collection of his own memories that will pass away with him.
